Intriguing production trivia

The estimated cost of the film is $90,000,000.

Most of Ferrari was filmed in and around Modena, and the period recreations were largely filmed in the original locations with a bare minimum of computer graphics.

Filming began in August 2022 and continued until the end of October.

(Spoiler alert) Massimo Bottura, Modena’s famous Michelin-starred chef, plays the part of a hotel front desk clerk in a scene filmed at the Hotel Canalgrande.

Mann said he chose to set the film in 1957 because that was the year in which Enzo Ferrari experienced the most painful period in his life.

The screenplay of Ferrari was adapted from Brock Yates’ 1991 biography, Enzo Ferrari: The Man and the Machine.

Filming was originally slated to begin in 2016 with Christian Bale in the role of Enzo Ferrari, but the film was postponed to 2022.

During filming, Modena chef Marta Pulini invited actors Penelope Cruz and Shailene Woodley to her house to teach them how to make fresh, homemade pasta.
