The first italian retrospective devoted to the great master of American photography: the middle of the exhibition is pristine and natural landscape of an America yet to be explored, able to revive the myth of the frontier and turn that call the forest that inflamed many authors North American literature of the late nineteenth century.

Among the subjects taken, there are giant granite of Half Dome lit by the moon, the deep canyons of the eye of Arizona, the piles of snow still intact at the exit of a cave in Yosemite Park, the twisted branches a redwood centuries, the expanse of rocky desert of Manzanar, the deportation of prisoners Japanese after Pearl Harbor. And again, always in Yosemite, the roaring waterfall "bridal veil" and juniper trees rooted to the rocks and ice, a symbol of endurance and adaptability
